After we have gained a thorough understanding of the client company - its products, services, market, and competition -- we put together a detailed job description for the position(s) to be filled and begin the search. Sourcing for the "ideal candidate" is where Devoto & Associates excels and clearly differentiates our search efforts from other firms.
The following are key sources that Devoto utilizes to find exceptional candidates:
Devoto & Associates Database: Building on relationships they have developed through 25 years of sales and sales management experience in enterprise software, services and e-commerce companies, Andrea and Jeff have at their disposal a database of over 5,000 talented sales, marketing and business development candidates.
Network of VCs and Executives: Through its search efforts and its executive lunch program, Jeff and Andrea have developed a network of key executives from prominent VC firms and enterprise software and services companies. We have key contacts with partners at the following VCs - Sierra Ventures, Sevin Rosen Funds, Rocket Ventures, Sand Hill Group, Woodside Capital Partners, Selby Venture Partners and Osprey Ventures. In addition, we work on a regular basis with sales, marketing and business development executives from emerging eBusinesses and established companies. This "network" is an invaluable source of talented individuals.
Sourcing: Devoto works with outside firms that will "source" out of companies that are competitors or where we might find talent. This has been an effective way to identify key sales representatives and determining their rank in the sales organization, the territory covered, tenure with the company, location, interest in leaving, hunters or gatherers and other key information like resumes, references, email and phone numbers. We have also used these "sourcing" services for VP-level searches.
Partners: We have developed relationships over the past several years with other search firms in key geographic areas of the United States. These firms have enabled us to provide a "local presence" in the northeast, midwest and southwest areas of the United States.
Internet: Devoto utilizes a select group of web services to locate quality candidates. This is not an integral part of our search efforts but has provided us with some quality sales representatives and executives.
